Good Smile Company’s popular chibi action figure line, Nendoroid, is expanding with a new release from the movie "Shin Godzilla": the Nendoroid Godzilla (2016) Second Form. Priced at 7,200 yen (tax included), the figure is scheduled for release in February 2027.
"Shin Godzilla" is a live-action Godzilla movie directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi. The movie portrays Godzilla as a perfect organism capable of evolving and reverting its form at will. After first emerging from the sea, the creature undergoes five dramatic transformations over the course of the film. This figure captures its Second Form, an amphibian-like stage featuring gill structures along the neck, round and vacant fishlike eyes, and underdeveloped legs that force it to wriggle and crawl across land. Since Godzilla first comes ashore in Tokyo’s Kamata district, fans affectionately nicknamed this form "Kamata-kun". Its unsettling yet strangely adorable appearance has also earned it a reputation for being the ultimate “ugly-cute” kaiju.
Standing approximately 10 cm tall, the Nendoroid Godzilla (2016) Second Form perfectly captures Kamata-kun’s grotesquely adorable look. Its articulated mouth opens to reveal sculpted interior details, while the head, neck, forelimbs, hind limbs, and tail are all poseable. The included support stand allows the creature to raise its body off the ground, and a fluid effect part recreates the bodily fluids leaking from its gills as it moves.
