BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. has unveiled the new "KIKAI KOUBOU Mobile Suit Gundam Vol. 1" blind-box series. Gundam, Zaku, and other Mobile Suits have been reimagined with rounded, super-deformed proportions, and each figure comes with a "KOUBOU" hangar that stores its weapons and optional parts. The first wave features eight designs, with each box priced at RMB 79 and scheduled for release in November 2026.
The appeal of "KIKAI KOUBOU" goes beyond simply shrinking down the Mobile Suits. The line brings classic Gundam maintenance-bay scenes straight to collectors’ shelves. Each Mobile Suit stands approximately 8.5 cm tall, while the included hangar measures about 11 cm. Beam rifles, shields, bazookas, and other weapons can be mounted directly onto the racks, while removable heads and arms let collectors recreate Mobile Suits undergoing repairs or maintenance.
The series is built around disassembly, swapping, and customization. Shared connection points allow heads, arms, weapons, and equipment to be exchanged between different figures. Collectors can mount Gundam’s head on another Mobile Suit or equip a unit with shields and weapons it would not normally carry. Rather than simply displaying whichever design comes out of the box, each release doubles as a miniature library of interchangeable mecha parts.
Vol. 1 includes eight designs: Gundam, G-3 Gundam, Char's Zaku II, Zaku II, Justice Gundam, Justice Gundam (Deactive Mode), and Freedom Gundam, plus Freedom Gundam (Deactive Mode). The backpack equipment on Justice Gundam and Freedom Gundam can be removed and stored inside the hangar, while the Zaku units have space for their bazookas, Heat Hawks, and other gear. Each bay can be rearranged to create a different maintenance scene tailored to its Mobile Suit.
The hangars can also be stacked vertically or connected side by side. Official images show all eight bays combined into a massive hangar wall, allowing collectors to expand a single display into a miniature base. A second wave is already in the planning stages, suggesting that the line’s "Mobile Suit plus hangar" concept will continue to grow.
