Earlier this month, Nicolas Cage’s solo series "Spider-Noir" was canceled after just one season, leaving fans disappointed. But Sony Pictures and Amazon aren’t giving up on developing more "Spider-Man" shows. Deadline reported Tuesday that their next potential adaptation will tackle Marvel Comics’ iconic Clone Saga storyline.
Previous reports revealed that Sony had four other "Spider-Man" series in development. According to Deadline, Amazon is now prioritizing a Clone Saga series conceived by "American Born Chinese" creator Kelvin Yu. The show is expected to center on two clones of Peter Parker: Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker.

Although Cage’s Spider-Noir used the name Ben Reilly, Spider-Man Noir’s original identity in the comics is Peter Parker. Rights restrictions prevented the series from using that name, so Ben Reilly was used instead. In the comics, however, Ben is a separate character—and a clone of Peter Parker.
Two versions of the potential series’ storyline are currently circulating. One would follow Ben and Kaine as they discover they are clones, struggle to adjust to their new identities and contend with other clones. The other would significantly rewrite their origins and potentially give them entirely new identities. Deadline’s sources stressed that the comic-book storyline will serve only as inspiration, meaning the series is unlikely to be a faithful adaptation and could make sweeping changes to the source material.
