BANDAI SPIRITS’ TAMASHII NATIONS collectible division has officially unveiled the latest ONE PIECE release in its S.H.Figuarts action figure line: MONKEY.D.LUFFY -NEW WORLD-. Priced at 4,400 yen, the figure is scheduled for release in April 2027!
During the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, the Straw Hat Pirates were overwhelmed by the Pacifista and Admiral Kizaru before Bartholomew Kuma sent every member of the crew flying to a different location. Following the Marineford Arc, Luffy took Silvers Rayleigh’s advice and sent his scattered crewmates the coded message “3D2Y,” telling them to abandon their planned reunion in three days and regroup after two years instead. Each member then endured brutal training on the island where they had landed, building the strength they would need to enter the New World.
Standing approximately 5.7 inches tall, MONKEY.D.LUFFY -NEW WORLD- features all-new construction and recreates Luffy’s return to Sabaody Archipelago as he prepares to set sail for the New World. The sculpt features more finely rendered clothing folds than previous versions, while his shirt has been given a deeper, more subdued shade of red. The chest scar left by Akainu is also finished with a slightly purple tone.
The biggest articulation upgrade comes at the shoulders, which now feature butterfly joints for a much wider range of forward and backward attack poses. The torso design has been streamlined to preserve the sculpted abs, relying on a chest joint and a concealed joint beneath the waist. Based on the official photos, however, the figure still delivers an impressively complete range of motion.
The lower body has also been completely redesigned. The hips use newly tooled swivel joints similar to those found on the Marineford version, while the yellow waist sash can now lift forward. Double-jointed knees have been added as well. The movable trim around the shorts has also been upgraded to reduce interference during posing, allowing Luffy to achieve a much more natural crouching stance. From MONKEY.D.LUFFY -THE RAID ON ONIGASHIMA- through the Romance Dawn and Marineford releases, the line’s articulation has come a long way. Better yet, this figure can be paired with the simultaneously revealed “MONKEY.D.LUFFY -NEW WORLD- Optional Parts Set,” which fans have been requesting for years, to recreate Luffy’s Haki-powered poses. We can’t wait to see how the final figure handles in person!
