BANDAI SPIRITS’ TAMASHII NATIONS collectors division has announced plans to bring the classic Ultraman kaiju Magnet Monster Antlar 60th Anniversary Edition to its popular S.H.Figuarts action figure line.
Introduced in Episode 7 of the original Ultraman series, the Magnet Monster Antlar is a massive kaiju that has lived beneath the desert surrounding the mysterious Middle Eastern city of Baradhi since ancient times. Its huge mandibles and habit of creating traps to prey on humans resemble an antlion, while the powerful Magnetic Beam fired between its mandibles can pull in magnetic metal objects. Antlar’s incredibly tough hide can even withstand Ultraman’s Spacium Beam. According to legend, the monster attacked the prosperous city of Baradhi 5,000 years ago, bringing its Silk Road trade into decline. Fortunately, an Ultraman-like giant known as the God of Noa defeated the creature, leaving behind the Blue Stone of Baradhi—Antlar’s only weakness.
Alongside the upcoming release of S.H.Figuarts Ultraman Max, TAMASHII NATIONS also announced that the 2018 S.H.Figuarts ANTLAR will return as a 60th Anniversary Edition. The reissue will let Ultraman Max fans recreate the memorable showdown from Episode 11 of the series. An early look at the figure has already been revealed, showing a fully updated paint scheme based on the original 2018 release.
