BANDAI SPIRITS’ TAMASHII NATIONS collectibles division is celebrating the 60th anniversary of "Ultraman" with a new release from its S.H.Figuarts articulated figure line: the "Antlar 60th Anniversary Edition". Priced at 11,000 yen, the figure is scheduled for release in May 2027!
Known as the "Magnetic Monster," Antlar debuted in Episode 7 of the original 1966 "Ultraman" series, "The Blue Stone of Baradhi." The kaiju slumbered beneath the mysterious ancient city of Baradhi in the Middle Eastern desert, where it could create quicksand traps and unleash powerful magnetic rays capable of disabling aircraft and metal weapons. Its rock-hard carapace could even withstand Ultraman’s Specium Ray! Antlar’s only weakness was Baradhi’s legendary Blue Stone, left behind 5,000 years earlier by the Ultraman-like God of Noa.
Standing approximately 5.9 inches tall, the "Antlar 60th Anniversary Edition" appears to repaint the sculpt from the 2018 release. Created with the full cooperation of LSS, Tsuburaya Productions’ modeling division, the figure captures Antlar’s oversized mandibles, rugged carapace, and other insect-like details. Its updated paint scheme draws inspiration from the sandstorm-filled battle in "The Blue Stone of Baradhi," with airbrushed weathering across the chest, head, and other areas recreating the realistic look of sand coating the monster’s body.
The figure once again includes a rock-and-earth effect part. By removing Antlar’s lower body and attaching the effect, collectors can display the monster bursting out of the ground. Like the previously released "Zetton 60th Anniversary Edition," this Antlar also comes with a PET title card featuring "The Blue Stone of Baradhi" and a dedicated display base. Pair it with the "S.H.Figuarts (SHINKOCCHOU SEIHOU) ULTRAMAN (A TYPE)," scheduled for release in February, to recreate the classic showdown. It can also be displayed with the April release "S.H.Figuarts Ultraman Max" to bring Max and Antlar’s battle from Episode 11, "The Prophecy of Baraj," to life!
