Japanese model maker Kaiyodo announced a new release inspired by the film "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" through its official social media account today, October 2. Hedorah Re:Imagination is officially joining the company’s ARTPLA SCULPTURE WORKS plastic model lineup!

Introduced in the 1971 film "Godzilla vs. Hedorah," Hedorah is a mineral-based alien life-form that grew to monstrous proportions after absorbing industrial wastewater, sludge, and chemical fumes on Earth. Known as the Smog Monster, this living embodiment of environmental destruction is composed entirely of highly acidic, poisonous sludge. It can release a sulfuric acid mist capable of reducing living creatures to bones in seconds and is impervious to physical attacks and Godzilla’s atomic breath. Its sole weakness is dehydration.

Based on the gray prototype renders released so far, Hedorah Re:Imagination features a bold new interpretation by renowned biological sculptor Shinobu Matsumura. The model recreates Hedorah sprawled across a factory, clamping its mouth around the top of a smokestack as it ravenously inhales the industrial fumes pouring out. The kit will also feature an all-new multicolor molding design, leaving us eager to see how the finished color scheme comes together. Kaiyodo also confirmed that “Burning Godzilla Re:Imagination” and “Gigan (2004) Re:Imagination” will receive multicolor plastic model kits as well!
