TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector-focused division of Japan’s BANDAI SPIRITS, is expanding its METAL ROBOT SPIRITS line of finished mecha figures, known for metallic paint applications and die-cast inner frames. Created to commemorate GUNDAM-Con 2027 SIDE MAKUHARI in January 2027, the latest release is the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM MSV design Rising Freedom Gundam Radiance Granger. Priced at 26,400 yen including tax, the figure will receive a world-premiere advance sale at GUNDAM-Con 2027 SIDE MAKUHARI!
GUNDAM-Con 2027 SIDE MAKUHARI is a major celebration leading into the Gundam franchise’s 50th anniversary. Billed as the largest Gundam event ever, it will take place at Makuhari Messe from January 9–11, 2027. To mark the occasion, TAMASHII NATIONS has unveiled the commemorative METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Rising Freedom Gundam Radiance Granger. This never-realized mobile suit combines Rising Freedom Gundam with the Proud Defender, an expansion unit originally developed for the machine. However, Rising Freedom Gundam was destroyed before the equipment could be deployed, leaving this configuration confined to design lore—until now.
The figure appears to build on the design of the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Rising Freedom Gundam, adding an all-new color scheme and the METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Proud Defender. Along with the main figure, the set includes a beam rifle, beam saber blades, a shield, shield effect parts, and a dedicated display stand. According to the official contents list, the Proud Defender’s lightning effect parts are not included. Whether the figure’s underlying construction differs from previous releases remains unknown, so collectors will have to wait for additional details from TAMASHII NATIONS.
