BANDAI SPIRITS’ TAMASHII NATIONS collectible division has revealed new details for the latest release in its popular die-cast "METAL BUILD" line: the "Strike Gundam ENGINEERING EDITION" from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED." The figure will receive an early release at the Gundam series’ 50th-anniversary event, GUNDAM-Con2027 SIDE MAKUHARI, in January 2027, followed by a later release through Premium Bandai.
The GAT-X105 Strike Gundam, the protagonist mobile suit from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED," was the last of the Earth Alliance’s five G weapons to be completed. Its lightweight armor gives it exceptional, human-like mobility, though it also leaves the machine heavily reliant on Phase Shift Armor for protection. The versatile Striker Pack System allows the Gundam to switch between Aile Strike, Sword Strike, Launcher Strike, and other mission-specific configurations, giving a single mobile suit the flexibility to handle a wide range of combat scenarios.
The "METAL BUILD Strike Gundam ENGINEERING EDITION" reworks the previously released standard version under the supervision of "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" mechanical animation director Satoshi Shigeta. Dense, METAL BUILD-original detailing covers the entire figure, giving its armor the hard-edged contours and rugged presence of a real weapon system. Exposed sections of the internal frame combine die-cast parts with two-tone plating for an especially striking metallic finish.
Its overall color scheme is based on the Strike Gundam’s black-and-white appearance before its PS Armor activates. Smoky translucent black parts replace sections of the antenna, chest armor, limbs, shield, beam rifle, and more. These clear sections also feature an asymmetrical left-right layout, balancing the solid armor panels while revealing as much of the die-cast inner frame as possible. The result looks like an engineering inspection model designed to showcase its mechanical systems in operation, giving this release a visual identity unlike anything previously seen in the METAL BUILD line.
