Eight years after the last sequel, the "Sicario" franchise is finally moving ahead with a third installment. Deadline reports that "Sicario 3" is officially taking shape. While 2018's "Sicario: Day of the Soldado" brought back only Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin, original star Emily Blunt is also set to return this time.

Although the original trio is reuniting, a new filmmaker will once again step behind the camera. Padraic McKinley, whose well-received Western crime thriller "The Weight" arrived this year, is set to direct. "Peaky Blinders" creator Steven Knight is writing the screenplay. McKinley and Knight are currently revising the script based on notes from the three stars, with production expected to begin in early 2027.
