Japanese high-end statue and collectible maker Prime 1 Studio showcased the latest prototype of its Rebuild of Evangelion DYNAMIC ARTS Evangelion Unit-01 (Concept by Josh Nizzi) at the 64th All Japan Model & Hobby Show. Alongside the newest version currently in development, the display featured earlier prototypes and a dedicated diorama base. The biggest change is immediately apparent: the figure has grown from approximately 20 cm to 30 cm tall, making it roughly 1.5 times larger than the previous prototype and giving it a much stronger shelf presence. Pricing and a release date have yet to be announced, but preorders are currently scheduled to open in spring 2027.

We previously covered the debut of this new articulated collectible line, followed by a closer look at its latest prototype, which featured a roughly 20cm die-cast frame, mechanical outer armor, and redesigned detailing by Josh Nizzi. At the All Japan Model & Hobby Show, Prime 1 Studio displayed the earlier version directly alongside the newest prototype, making the 1.5-times size increase impossible to miss.

With the larger format, Unit-01 now stands approximately 30 cm tall. The added size gives the densely layered armor seams, exposed mechanisms, and intricate mechanical detailing originally created by Josh Nizzi for the large-scale statue much more room to shine. Although the latest prototype was displayed unpainted, Prime 1 Studio plans to give the finished figure a metallic paint scheme consistent with the previous prototype and statue release. The figure will combine die-cast metal, ABS, PVC, and other materials.

The diorama base also made its debut at the event. Inspired by the aftermath of Unit-01’s battle with the Fourth Angel in Tokyo-3, the scene incorporates the Angel’s upper body, urban structures, and battle-damaged debris, allowing Unit-01 to be displayed in a complete action setting. Prime 1 Studio is currently planning both Deluxe and Standard editions. The Deluxe Edition is expected to include the diorama base, Spear of Cassius, and additional accessories, while the Standard Edition will focus on Unit-01 and its basic equipment.

Another highlight of the display was the inclusion of prototypes from throughout the development process. Fans could trace the project’s evolution from the earlier 20cm version to the latest 30cm prototype. Beyond the increased size, the new build moves even closer to the intricate styling of Prime 1 Studio’s original large-scale statue. For collectors who have followed the project through its previous development updates, this display offered the clearest look yet at how dramatically the figure has changed.
