BANDAI SPIRITS’ BANDAI HOBBY division has announced the latest character model in its "30 MINUTES PREFERENCE" series. Based on Rebuild of Evangelion, the new "Rei Ayanami (School Uniform Ver.)" plastic model is scheduled for release in January 2027 as a PREMIUM BANDAI exclusive.
Released in 2025, the "30MP Rei Ayanami" used multicolor molded parts to recreate the plugsuit’s distinctive color scheme and high-gloss finish while faithfully capturing Rei’s graceful proportions. Precise sculpting and carefully engineered articulation delivered an excellent balance of looks and poseability, while interchangeable lower-body parts allowed collectors to display her in an adorable knees-hugged seated pose.
The new "30MP Rei Ayanami (School Uniform Ver.)" features newly tooled parts molded in red, blue, white, and other colors to recreate her Tokyo-3 First Municipal Junior High School uniform. The sculpt captures the fabric’s thickness, folds, and dimensional tailoring, with the skirt produced in a flexible soft-plastic material. While the uniform naturally limits articulation compared to the form-fitting plugsuit, the kit includes two newly designed preprinted face parts, several interchangeable hands, and replacement lower-body parts for an adorable W-sitting pose. Together, these options let collectors bring out a wide range of Rei’s subtle expressions and emotions.
Accessories include a schoolbag for recreating scenes from Rei’s daily life, along with the miso soup Shinji Ikari prepared during the group’s visit to the Japan Marine Ecosystem Preservation Research Organization. Dedicated hands let Rei hold the bowl and pose as though she is drinking the soup. The included waterslide decal sheet also features 20 different facial expressions, which can be applied to the blank face parts to create custom looks.
