Marvel Unlimited Is Shutting Down After 19 Years — WEBTOON-Powered Comics App Takes Over in November

Marvel Comics’ digital comics subscription service Marvel Unlimited will officially shut down on December 17, 2026, ending a run of roughly 19 years. The company has also stopped accepting new subscriptions and will launch its replacement, "Marvel Comics Powered by WEBTOON," on November 16, 2026.

Current Marvel Unlimited subscribers will retain access until the service closes in December. Those who were recently charged will not be billed for another subscription period. Marvel also plans to issue prorated refunds on November 16 based on the unused time remaining on each subscriber’s plan.

With the two services set to overlap for about a month, Marvel plans to let readers transfer their existing comic libraries and reading progress to the new app. Details of that process have yet to be announced. Instructions for creating a WEBTOON account and migrating user data will be provided later through email and in-app notifications.

The new service will offer two primary subscription tiers: Base and Ultimate. Base will remain priced at $9.99 per month and include access to the complete comics library, though new issues will not become available until 90 days after their print release, similar to Marvel Unlimited’s current model.

Ultimate will cost $12.49 per month and provide access to the same full library, but new comics will arrive as soon as 30 days after their print release, dramatically cutting the wait. Marvel is also offering an Ultimate annual plan for a promotional first-year price of $59.99, with renewals priced at $99.99 per year.

Based on the first images released, the new app will also feature a redesigned interface. For longtime Marvel Unlimited readers, the overhaul not only marks the end of the original platform but also signals a new era for Marvel’s digital comics business through its partnership with WEBTOON.
