THE GUNDAM BASE Limited HG 1/144 Hyaku-Shiki (OLD KIT TRIBUTE Ver.) Revives the Vintage Gunpla’s Yellow Armor!

Japanese manufacturer BANDAI SPIRITS unveiled a prototype of its upcoming HG 1/144 Hyaku-Shiki (OLD KIT TRIBUTE Ver.) through the BANDAI HOBBY plastic model brand at the recently held 64th All Japan Model & Hobby Show. The kit is scheduled for an exclusive January 2027 release at THE GUNDAM BASE, the official flagship store for Gunpla.

Piloted in the series by Quattro Bajeena (Char Aznable), the MSN-00100 Hyaku-Shiki began as the transformable mobile suit codenamed Delta Gundam under the Zeta Project, a joint development effort between the anti-Federation organization A.E.U.G. and Anaheim Electronics. Testing revealed that its movable frame could not withstand the stresses generated by the transformation system, so the transformation mechanism was ultimately scrapped. Even after its structure was redesigned, the resulting mobile suit still delivered outstanding performance for its era. Its Gundarium alloy armor was also treated with an anti-beam coating, creating the machine’s signature gold finish. The coating offered only limited protection against beam attacks, but there was no denying how cool it looked.

Based on the standard retail kit released in 2016, the HG 1/144 Hyaku-Shiki (OLD KIT TRIBUTE Ver.) swaps the mobile suit’s signature gold-molded armor parts for bright yellow plastic. The color scheme pays tribute to the vintage 1/100 Hyaku-Shiki Gunpla released in 1985 alongside "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam." Aside from the new colors, the design remains essentially unchanged, retaining its sharp proportions and excellent articulation. The kit also includes a Beam Rifle, Beam Sabers, and a Clay Bazooka.
