BANDAI SPIRITS’ Hobby Division unveiled another addition to its extensive 1/144-scale Gunpla lineup at the recent 64th All Japan Model & Hobby Show. The latest kit in the "HG (High Grade)" series is the long-awaited "HG 1/144 G-Line Assault Armor" from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Battlefield Record U.C. 0081." The kit will be sold exclusively through the official Premium Bandai online store at a later date.
Featured in the game "Mobile Suit Gundam: Battlefield Record U.C. 0081," the "RX-81 G-Line" was a prototype mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces near the end of the One Year War as part of an effort to fully mass-produce the RX-78 Gundam series. Unlike the RGM-79 GM, whose dramatically simplified specifications resulted in lower performance, the G-Line sacrificed the Core Fighter system while retaining the Gundam’s Luna Titanium alloy armor and performance equal to or greater than that of the Gundam itself. The machine also inherited the design philosophy of the "FSWS Plan," allowing its additional armor and weapons to be swapped out according to mission requirements. Its configurations include the well-balanced G-Line Standard Armor, the high-mobility G-Line Light Armor, the close-combat-focused G-Line Assault Armor, and the G-Line Full Custom, which combines equipment from the other configurations.
The "HG 1/144 G-Line Assault Armor" uses the same core G-Line body featured in the previous two releases, adding newly molded parts for the military-green Assault Armor fitted across the mobile suit. Its loadout includes a backpack equipped with fuel tanks and an Assault Cannon, a Heat Lance wielded in the right hand, and a claw-equipped shield mounted on the left arm. Barring any unexpected changes, the core G-Line body should retain the concealed connection points used by the earlier kits, allowing builders to remove the armor at any time or mix and match weapons with other separately sold G-Line configurations.
