MegaHouse has officially unveiled the latest release in its premium VARIABLE ACTION HEROES action figure line: the ONE PIECE "Whitebeard" Edward Newgate Ver.1.5 action figure. Priced at 22,000 yen, the figure is scheduled for release in May 2027.
Edward Newgate, better known as Whitebeard, was a former member of the Four Emperors and the only pirate who could once rival Pirate King Gol D. Roger. He commanded the massive Whitebeard Pirates, a crew divided into 16 divisions. Orphaned at birth and longing for a family of his own, Whitebeard affectionately referred to his crewmates as his "sons." After eating the Paramecia-type Tremor-Tremor Fruit, he gained the power to unleash devastating earthquakes and tsunamis with a single punch. Eiichiro Oda even described him as the "world's strongest pirate" in an official databook.
The VARIABLE ACTION HEROES Whitebeard Ver.1.5 action figure reuses the sculpt from the original 2017 release. Standing approximately 24 cm tall, it captures Newgate's towering, muscular build with detailed sculpting across his physique, including the scars covering his body. Additional shading brings out the contours and gives the figure greater visual depth. The biggest upgrade for this Ver.1.5 edition is the white coat, which replaces the original soft-plastic piece with a tailored fabric version. Details such as the shoulder fringes and the Whitebeard Pirates emblem on the back have also been faithfully recreated.
Accessories include a pair of interchangeable hands, two alternate face parts, Murakumogiri—one of the 12 Supreme Grade Blades—and a pair of translucent effect parts recreating the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit. Combined with the figure's flexible articulation, these parts let collectors recreate a variety of commanding battle poses from the series.
