A recent report claimed Xbox had secured "exclusive cloud streaming rights" to Grand Theft Auto VI during its launch window, sparking speculation that PC players could access the game through Xbox Cloud Gaming before a native PC version arrives. Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball quickly pushed back, however, saying the report had been misinterpreted.
Ball wrote on his personal social media account: "While the excitement for GTA VI and Xbox is great to see, it has also led to some misreporting. We are looking forward to launching GTA VI on Xbox November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC."

The Verge previously reported that Xbox would be the only platform offering cloud streaming for "GTA 6" at launch. Because Xbox Cloud Gaming supports PCs, smart TVs and mobile devices, the report led some to believe players without a console would also be able to jump in.
The report also claimed Xbox CEO Asha Sharma told employees during an internal meeting that the company was preparing something for "GTA 6" that no other platform holder was doing. Microsoft is also reportedly planning to introduce a pay-as-you-go cloud streaming option in November, further fueling the speculation.
Ball’s denial has now shut down claims that "GTA 6" will be available on PC through cloud streaming at launch. The game remains scheduled to hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, while Rockstar Games has yet to announce a release date for the PC version.
