In January 2025, Canadian filmmaker Rob Jabbaz, director of the Taiwanese outbreak horror movie "The Sadness," signed on to adapt "Crossed," another comic co-created by "The Boys" writer Garth Ennis. After more than a year of production, the movie's first trailer has finally arrived. The project, however, does not appear to have secured a distributor yet, leaving its release date up in the air.

Jabbaz has repeatedly acknowledged that "Crossed" was the original inspiration for "The Sadness." Anyone familiar with the comic can easily spot the ideas that carried over, including infected people who retain a degree of intelligence but lose all restraint, driving them to self-mutilation, murder, rape and cannibalism—hallmarks of "Crossed."

The official synopsis for the "Crossed" movie reads as follows: Stan and Cindy lead a group of strangers north as they attempt to escape hordes of infected people known as the Crossed. In this apocalyptic world, those infected by a mysterious disease develop large cross-shaped marks on their faces and become consumed by an uncontrollable urge to commit the most evil acts imaginable. Ennis wrote the screenplay himself.
