Japanese designer toy retailer T-BASE JAPAN has officially revealed “ONE PIECE × Toshio Asakuma,” a new figure collaboration with the acclaimed animal sculptor. The ONE PIECE × TOSHIO ASAKUMA collection features eight characters standing approximately 8 to 9 cm tall. Each figure is priced at 1,980 yen, with the lineup scheduled for release in 2027. A firm launch date and sales details will be announced later.
If Luffy turning into a monkey feels strangely familiar, your memory is not playing tricks on you. Back when the ONE PIECE manga celebrated its 15th anniversary, we covered the “Eiichiro Oda × Toshio Asakuma ONE PIECE Character Animal Series,” which transformed the Straw Hat Pirates into animals as part of the Figuarts ZERO Artist Special line. Years later, T-BASE is bringing back that familiar yet wonderfully bizarre concept—this time adding characters from the Marines, Cross Guild, and Wano Country to the animal kingdom.
The lineup includes Monkey D. Luffy, Jinbe, Monkey D. Garp, Buggy, Dracule Mihawk, Crocodile, Otama, and Kozuki Oden. Together, the eight figures span the Straw Hat Pirates, Marines, Cross Guild, and Wano Country, bringing characters from several major eras of the story into one display. Each sculpt pairs Asakuma’s realistic animal anatomy with the character’s signature clothing, weapons, and expressions. Even with their new animal heads, details such as Buggy’s red nose and Mihawk’s Black Blade, Yoru, make every character instantly recognizable.
T-BASE displayed painted prototypes at Taipei Toy Festival 2026, which runs through October 11. While the earlier Figuarts ZERO Artist Special releases were larger-scale collectibles, these new figures have been downsized to approximately 8 to 9 cm, with each one priced below 2,000 yen. The real problem will not be recognizing the characters in animal form—it will be how quickly buying one turns into taking home the entire set.
