The extraordinary life and Hollywood career of late Oscar-winning director Elia Kazan (pictured above), the filmmaker behind such landmark movies as "Gentleman's Agreement" and "A Streetcar Named Desire," is now set to inspire a film of its own. Page Six recently reported that Kazan's life story is being developed as a biopic, with fellow Academy Award-winning director Barry Levinson (pictured below) attached to helm the project.

In addition to directing, Levinson will co-write the screenplay with Jina Umakanthan, an emerging writer with relatively few credits compared with the veteran filmmaker. Gene Kirkwood, who previously produced "The Keep" and "Rocky," is on board as a producer.
Levinson is best known for acclaimed films including "Rain Man" and "Good Morning, Vietnam." His most recent feature, "The Alto Knights," was released in March 2025. No cast or release date has been announced, and Page Six did not identify a distributor, suggesting the project is still searching for a studio partner.
