BANDAI SPIRITS’ TAMASHII NATIONS collectibles division has unveiled a new 45th-anniversary release from its transforming die-cast DX Chogokin line: the "VF-1J Super Valkyrie (Maximilian Jenius Use)" from the classic anime "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross." The figure is scheduled for release in March 2027.

Introduced in the original 1982 anime "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross," the transformable "VF-1 Valkyrie" remains the franchise’s most iconic variable fighter. It saw extensive action during Space War I, the conflict between humanity and the Zentradi. Developed by the U.N. Forces using Overtechnology recovered from an alien spacecraft, the fighter is powered by thermonuclear turbine engines capable of operating continuously in an atmosphere for up to 700 hours. To combat the towering Zentradi, it can also transform between three distinct modes, shifting from a fighter jet into a humanoid combat machine. The VF-1’s exceptional versatility spawned numerous variants, including the VF-1J featured here. Positioned between the mass-production VF-1A and the command-spec VF-1S, the VF-1J was typically assigned to ace pilots and team leaders.

"DX Chogokin VF-1J Super Valkyrie (Maximilian Jenius Use)"
Based on previously released DX Chogokin VF-1 tooling, this version features an all-new color scheme and printed markings that faithfully recreate Max’s signature indigo-blue fighter. Dense mechanical detailing across the body gives each section of armor a convincing sense of weight and realism. The set also includes Super Parts equipped with two HMMP-02 Micro-Missile Pods and six RMS-1 Large Anti-Ship Reaction Missiles.

Much of the internal frame is constructed from die-cast metal, delivering tight, durable articulation, smooth poseability, and a satisfyingly hefty feel in hand. The engineering enables seamless transformation between FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID modes without swapping parts, while the Super Parts can remain attached in all three configurations. In FIGHTER mode, the Valkyrie measures an impressive 30 centimeters long. Its large size allows for a highly detailed cockpit complete with a sculpted seat and control panels, plus enough room to place the included Maximilian Jenius pilot figure inside.

The forearm missile launchers are modeled after their appearance in the television anime, while the interchangeable hands feature the show’s distinctive rounded design. Additional accessories include detail-up parts for both sides of the torso, air-intake shutters, and antennas for the GERWALK configuration.
