TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectibles division of Japan’s BANDAI SPIRITS, has revealed the latest release in its popular articulated figure line, S.H.Figuarts. The tragic kaiju from the classic tokusatsu series "Ultraman" joins the collection as S.H.Figuarts Jamila, priced at 9,900 yen including tax and scheduled for release in April 2027.
Planet-dwelling Monster Jamila debuted in Episode 23 of "Ultraman," titled "My Home Is Earth." One of the franchise’s most famously tragic monsters, Jamila was originally an astronaut sent into space by an unnamed nation. After an accident stranded him on a planet without water, his body gradually mutated into a monstrous form. His home country covered up the incident to avoid responsibility, prompting Jamila to seek revenge against both the nation that abandoned him and humanity itself. Years later, he returned to Earth aboard a spacecraft he had repaired, intending to destroy the International Peace Conference. Jamila can unleash flames reaching 1 million degrees Celsius from his mouth, and his body is highly resistant to heat. Water is his fatal weakness, however, and Ultraman ultimately defeated him with the Ultra Water Stream. His unusual silhouette also sparked an unexpected trend among children at the time, who imitated Jamila by pulling their shirt collars over their heads.
Standing approximately 6.1 inches tall, S.H.Figuarts Jamila was developed under the close supervision of Tsuburaya Productions’ LSS sculpting division. The figure faithfully captures a design originally inspired by a mille crêpe cake scored with countless cracks, reproducing the fissured texture across Jamila’s entire body. Even the limb joints blend naturally into the folds and cracked surface of the creature suit. An articulated mouth, pull-out joints in the abdomen, and extendable leg joints provide the range needed to recreate Jamila’s battle poses from the series. A pair of interchangeable gripping hands is also included.
