"The Batman Part II" Taps Steven Soderbergh to Finish Filming as Matt Reeves Remains Away From Set

Deadline exclusively reports that Matt Reeves, who recently paused production on "The Batman Part II" to attend to a private family matter, will not be able to return to the set. Oscar-winning "Ocean's" filmmaker Steven Soderbergh will step in to complete the remaining shoot.

Some fans may fear a repeat of the director shake-up on "Justice League," but DC Studios stressed in a statement that Soderbergh volunteered to help. He will remain in close contact with Reeves throughout the process, with Reeves returning to oversee post-production and finish the film.

Soderbergh also released a statement: "I thought Matt Reeves' work on 'The Batman' was stunning; it was intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent. The goal here is to work with Matt and his team to generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what's already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film."
