BANDAI SPIRITS’ BANDAI HOBBY division has announced the latest addition to its highly detailed RG (REAL GRADE) plastic model line. Based on "The King of Braves GaoGaiGar," Star GaoGaiGar is scheduled for release in February 2027.
Star GaoGaiGar is GaoGaiGar’s space-combat configuration, formed by replacing the original Stealth Gao with Stealth Gao II. Its newly installed Ul-Tech Engines dramatically increase the machine’s output, extending its operating time in space and enhancing its mobility within the atmosphere. Phantom Rings mounted on the outer edges of its wings can be equipped on its arms to amplify both offensive and defensive techniques, allowing Star GaoGaiGar to unleash Broken Phantom and Protect Wall.
RG Star GaoGaiGar builds on the GaoGaiGar kit released in 2022, adding newly tooled parts for Stealth Gao II and its Ul-Tech Engines and Phantom Rings. The GGG emblems on the wings are recreated with separate translucent green parts, while the Ul-Tech Engines feature the dense internal mechanical detailing expected from the RG line. The outer armor includes a choice of black or translucent green molded parts, letting builders recreate the engines’ green glow when activated.
The kit includes four individual machines—Galeon, Stealth Gao II, Liner Gao, and Drill Gao—each featuring screen-accurate forms and colors with minimal painting required. Intricate details such as the tank treads and cockpits are paired with a wide range of mechanical gimmicks. Despite faithfully reproducing the transformation and combination sequence of all four machines, the completed model retains excellent articulation and can recreate signature equipment and techniques including the Dividing Driver, Protect Shade, and Hell and Heaven. The Phantom Rings from Stealth Gao II can also be attached to both forearms for dynamic Broken Phantom and Protect Wall poses.
