Rockstar Games’ "Grand Theft Auto VI" is set to launch on November 19, 2026, and newly revealed behind-the-scenes details offer another striking example of the game’s commitment to realism. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier revealed that Rockstar even built a dedicated scripted system for character perspiration, allowing sweat levels to change based on physical exertion.

In a video accompanying his development feature this week, Schreier explained that the system determines how much characters sweat according to the effort they put into an activity. For example, the harder Lucia dances at a nightclub, the more visibly she perspires. Jason will likewise sweat more as the intensity of his workout increases. The mechanic may also apply to characters beyond the two protagonists, though its full scope has not been confirmed.
Media outlets noted that Rockstar’s August 2026 "Extended Look" video appeared to show a sheen of sweat on Lucia’s skin as she danced in a nightclub. However, the effect could simply have been caused by the lighting, so it remains unclear whether the footage actually showcased the new system.

This seemingly minor detail also sheds more light on why "GTA 6" spent roughly eight years in full development. According to Bloomberg, Rockstar established a dedicated Los Angeles studio staffed with writers, producers and directors focused entirely on creating NPCs. The move shows that the company poured extensive resources into not only its protagonists, but also the characters populating its open world.
As for the game’s closely watched development costs, Rockstar has denied rumors that the budget exceeded $1.5 billion, though the actual figure remains undisclosed. Despite multiple delays, the company has consistently maintained that quality must come first. From dynamic perspiration to a studio devoted to NPC production, these details reflect the development team’s effort to make the game world feel as authentic as possible.
