Oscar winner Nicolas Cage, who had been rumored since last year to headline Season 5 of "True Detective," finally confirmed his involvement a few days ago. Now, the show has found its other lead: Antonio Banderas. The pair are expected to play the season’s new detective partners, with production set to begin in 2027. The series will also mark the first HBO project for both Cage and Banderas.

"True Detective" introduces new leads and moves to a different city or town each season. Cage and Banderas will follow Season 4 stars Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, with the investigation relocating to Jamaica Bay, New York. Although Foster and Reis will not return, Issa López, who served as showrunner on Season 4’s "True Detective: Night Country," will remain at the helm for Season 5.
