The latest release in the popular die-cast action figure line "METAL BUILD", "Hatsune Miku," officially launches on October 24, 2026. Ahead of its debut, TAMASHII NATIONS, BANDAI SPIRITS' collector-focused brand, has shared an official unboxing that offers a comprehensive look at this original design created through a collaboration between multiple artists and designers.

"METAL BUILD Hatsune Miku" breaks away from the virtual singer's familiar original appearance. MKAGAMI, IBUKI, STUDIO GS, MAYLA, RYOSUKE TAKEUCHI, and other designers, brands, and studios working across video games, illustration, fashion, and more came together to create a completely new look exclusive to the METAL BUILD line. The design pairs the series' signature high-density mechanical body with the elegant proportions of a female character, then completes the look with cyberpunk clothing featuring bold cuts and oversized zippers.
▼ The package artwork was created by illustrator RYOSUKE TAKEUCHI. Bold, vibrant blocks of Pop Art-inspired color form an Electric Town scene filled with glowing signs, traffic, and pedestrians as METAL BUILD Hatsune Miku casually strolls through the city.

The concept for this unique take on Hatsune Miku was created by IBUKI, an artist affiliated with Japan's MKAGAMI, while STUDIO GS handled the figure's exterior and mechanical engineering. It marks the METAL BUILD line's first attempt at combining fabric clothing, a female character, and a feminine figure body, backed by the brand's extensive experience with die-cast articulation, sculpting, and paint applications. With the clothing removed, collectors can see that the major upper-body joints and most of the lower body are constructed from die-cast metal.

While the chest and abdomen retain skin tones and humanlike muscle definition, nearly the entire body is built around an exceptionally bold mechanical design. The limbs preserve Miku's slender, graceful silhouette while exposing intricate internal machinery. Silver, blue chrome, metallic aqua, orange, and other colors further emphasize the figure's substantial metal construction. The armor on the right wrist can be removed, while the heels of the boots unfold to create an alternate profile and increase the contact area for more stable posing.

Miku's back pushes the cyborg aesthetic even further with an incredible density of mechanical detail. Exposed joint assemblies are visible throughout, while the chest and abdomen feature finely sculpted internal components, structural supports, and complex multicolor paintwork. These details do more than enhance the figure visually—they also let collectors watch the articulation mechanisms move while posing her. The hips are especially notable, incorporating a newly patented structure designed to replicate the natural movement of a female pelvis. This allows for poses such as W-sitting and an open-legged forward bend.

Miku's signature twin-tails are made from flexible PVC sheets with embedded metal wires, with intricate surface graphics reproduced through color printing. Ball joints at the roots and the internal wire frames allow each twin-tail to rotate in multiple directions and hold sweeping, dynamic shapes. The accessory set also includes a previously unrevealed pair of naturally hanging twin-tails, giving collectors an alternative to the bendable versions.

The fabric outfit was designed by renowned Japanese fashion brand MAYLA. Its near-future cyberpunk aesthetic combines glossy silver and vivid glittery pink fabrics across three separate pieces: the top, skirt, and leg covers. Bold three-dimensional cuts, oversized zippers, and hanging straps let collectors customize which pieces Miku wears and how she wears them, creating different styles to complement her expressions and equipment.

The figure comes with four expressions: a standard face, singing face, smiling face, and yelling face. Each one features vivid detailing across the pupils, eyelashes, eyebrows, and other facial elements. The eyes also receive a plated finish that catches and reflects light, ensuring Miku's face remains just as visually striking as the die-cast mechanical body.

Additional accessories include three pairs of interchangeable hands, two differently styled backpacks, and an interchangeable bangs piece with a headset. Miku is also equipped with a massive "audio gadget" that combines the silhouette of a greatsword with a rifle. Dedicated gripping hands and a shoulder strap support a wide range of energetic action poses.

The white display base features an original design created specifically for this release. A shimmering holographic musical staff runs across a pink-to-aqua gradient, while the support arm can be configured with either a peg-style or clamp-style connector. A separate support arm for the audio gadget is also included.
