Chinese model kit brand XIAOT has announced the Ling Yao 1/100 scale plastic model kit from its original DP Escort Agency series. Inspired by the conical hat, straw rain cape, and martial arts aesthetic of ancient Chinese armed escorts, the heavily armored mecha combines the silhouette of traditional clothing with futuristic mechanical detailing. The kit is priced at 8,580 yen, including tax, and is scheduled for release in December 2026.
"DP Escort Agency" is XIAOT's original sci-fi mecha series, set in an alternate universe where humanity uses antimatter engines to explore space. The traditions of the ancient Silk Road and armed escort missions have also survived in a new form. The Ling Yao serves as one of the agency's heavy-duty mecha, blending the roaming-warrior spirit of a traditional escort guard with advanced technology. Its massive conical hat and layered, rain-cape-inspired armor make it look like a martial arts master transported into the distant future.
The model is designed at 1/100 scale and assembled from ABS and PS plastic parts. Beneath its densely layered exterior is a highly detailed mechanical frame. The kit also comes with bonus clear armor parts, allowing builders to replace sections of the outer armor and expose the machinery underneath. Whether you prefer bulky armored mecha or transparent components, the kit offers several distinct display options.
Ling Yao can also switch freely between three different configurations: Mechanical Frame Mode, which reveals the internal structure; Standard Mode, which emphasizes articulation; and Heavy Armor Mode, which equips the complete armor and weapon loadout. Accessories include two high-energy shotguns and four high-energy nano-sealed goose-quill sabers, interchangeable hands, and a dedicated display stand. A large modular display base is also included, giving builders room to pose Ling Yao wielding its guns, dual sabers, or full arsenal.
