Chinese toy maker 52TOYS is bringing a laid-back capybara to its BEASTBOX transforming toy line with the SATURN-POTATO transforming capybara. Inspired by the internet’s favorite chill animal, the design combines a round body and adorably blank expression with a mechanical transformation system. Not only can it convert from capybara mode into the line’s signature cube form, but it also comes with a transforming capybara baby, orange bombs, and a heart-shaped backpack. Priced at RMB 128, SATURN-POTATO is now available for preorder, with a release date yet to be announced.
The BEASTBOX line is known for its toys that transform between animal and cube modes, with previous releases covering dinosaurs, birds, and all kinds of other creatures. One standout was the previously featured “Meerkat Desert Assault Squad,” which combined four meerkats into a single cube. This time, the spotlight falls on the gentle capybara, a familiar face in countless wholesome memes. Its rounded silhouette, stubby legs, and vacant expression give this mechanical capybara less of a battle-ready presence and more of a “find a hot spring and relax” vibe.
The main capybara is not the only transforming figure in the set. The included capybara baby can normally be stored inside its parent, but it can also curl into a ball and launch from the firing mechanism on the larger capybara’s back. Who would have guessed that such a calm and cuddly animal could fire its own baby like a cannonball? It is an absurdly fun play feature.
The accessory loadout also includes one large orange bomb and three small orange bombs, which can be mounted along the sides of the capybara’s body. A heart-shaped backpack attaches to its back, giving collectors plenty of ways to customize the display. Pose the parent and baby together for an adorable family outing, or load up the orange bombs and turn that vacant-faced capybara into a fully armed combat unit.
