Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is getting its first new MSV project in 20 years. SEED FREEDOM MSV officially begins serialization in the December 2026 issue of Hobby Japan, released today, alongside the reveal of the first two side-story Mobile Suits: the Rising Freedom CDE-spec unit and Immortal Justice CDE-spec unit.
The official SEED FREEDOM MSV side story will tie into the theatrical projects Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO. Legendary mechanical designer Kunio Ohkawara has created all-new special-spec Mobile Suits for the series, while Shigeru Morita, who worked on the screenplays for both films, is handling their background lore. Hobby Japan’s all-star lineup of modelers will also bring the designs to life through custom Gunpla builds.
The Rising Freedom CDE-spec unit and Immortal Justice CDE-spec unit, introduced in the first installment, are simplified production versions of the Rising Freedom Gundam and Immortal Justice Gundam, respectively. The magazine cover offers the first look at both builds, which use the HG kits as their foundations while extensively reworking the head designs, color schemes, and other details.
