Hong Kong toy brand threezero has launched a brand new series collaborating with artists, 'threezeroX'. Today (the 1st), they officially announced the first product in collaboration with Japanese sculptor Ryū Ōyama: the "Baltan Seijin 1/6 Scale Articulated Figure" from Ultraman, with pre-orders opening in November.
Baltan Seijin (バルタン星人) is a classic arch-nemesis in the Ultraman series, first appearing in episode 2 of the original Ultraman. Its prototype is derived from the Cicada Human from Ultra Q, possessing a cicada-like head and giant, lobster-like claws. It is capable of using various abilities such as possession, illusions, cloning, cicada molting (shedding skin), freely changing body size, and firing freezing rays... It is also known as the "Space Ninja".
The reason for the feud between Baltan Seijin and Ultraman is not merely his fear of the Specium element. The Baltan Seijin are 2.03 billion space refugees who were deeply attracted by Earth's environment when they temporarily landed to repair their spaceship. However, their numbers and values were unacceptable to human society. After negotiations broke down, they consequently grew gigantic and began their invasion. It was then that the original Ultraman appeared, not only defeating the giant Baltan Seijin but also conveniently shooting down their spaceship. Although the surviving Baltan Seijin later found "Planet R" to relocate to, they could not forget this hatred and continuously returned to Earth to seek revenge on Ultraman.
The "threezeroX Baltan Seijin 1/6 Scale Articulated Figure" is produced by renowned kaiju sculptor Ryū Ōyama. It maintains the basic image of Baltan Seijin while carving out more biological and armor-like details in its appearance. Furthermore, articulated mechanisms are cleverly designed in the limbs to conceal joint parts, maintaining the integrity of the sculpt, and allowing for the replacement of different sized claws for play!
