This box toy series is themed around Japan's unique tax system – Furusato Nozei (故鄉納稅). Furusato Nozei is a new tax system implemented by the Japanese government in 2008 to address the issues of young people moving away from their hometowns and insufficient local tax revenue. Simply put, it allows taxpayers to redirect a portion of their "resident tax," which they would normally pay, to their hometown or a chosen donation recipient (another prefecture). The most interesting aspect, and arguably the main highlight of Furusato Nozei, is that by donating a certain amount, one can receive a gift box featuring local specialties!
