Kotobukiya, the Japanese toy company, today announced the latest addition to its "Megami Device" model kit series, which combines mechanical elements with bishojo figures. The new product, "AUV Susanowo," is slated for release in January 2022.
Designed by illustrator Nidy-2D-, the AUV Susanowo represents a new generation of Megami Device kits, serving as the successor to the popular ASRA series. Named after the deity from Japanese mythology who slayed the Yamata no Orochi, this model features a larger, newly designed body and extensive weaponry. It boasts exceptional close-to-mid-range combat capabilities, high mobility, and robust defensive armor. Its primary weapon, the Sword of the Gathering Clouds of Heaven, can transform into multiple forms. In a significant upgrade from previous Megami Device kits, which typically stood 15cm tall with 201-400 parts, the AUV Susanowo is a massive 20cm tall and comprises 401-600 parts!
The "Megami Device AUV Susanowo" utilizes a new Machineca body, with proportions meticulously re-tuned by sculptor Masaki Apsy. It comes with multiple interchangeable hand parts and three pre-painted face parts featuring "Sealed," "Awakened," and "Confident" expressions. A standout new feature is the "AUV frame" for the limbs, which gives them a distinct mechanical appearance and significantly increases the number of 3mm hardpoints. This enhancement greatly improves expandability and customization options.
When transformed into its "Armed Mode," the kit showcases a striking design with multi-layered black armor reflecting a gleaming golden frame, and translucent red parts that evoke the look of flowing blood. The vibrant red greatsword, the "Sword of the Gathering Clouds of Heaven," can further separate into both shooting and striking weapons. All armor parts can be freely repositioned using universal 3mm hardpoints, allowing builders to unleash their creativity and assemble various unique forms!
