WETA Workshop, the world-renowned special effects company for film and television, has officially unveiled its latest masterpiece: a stunning 1/6 scale full-body statue of the Dark Lord Sauron, straight from "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring"! This formidable collectible is slated for Q2 2022 delivery.
Sauron, the ultimate antagonist of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, makes his imposing physical debut in the prologue of "The Fellowship of the Ring." During this pivotal moment, Elendil, the leader of Men, and Gil-galad, the High King of the Noldor Elves, formed the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, marching into Mordor. They initially overwhelmed the Orc armies, but the tide of battle dramatically turned when Sauron, wielding the immensely powerful One Ring, personally entered the fray. Elendil fell in battle, struck down by Sauron's mace. However, in a desperate final act, Elendil's son, Isildur, used a shard of his father's sword to sever Sauron's finger, along with the Ring, leading to the Dark Lord's physical demise and securing victory.
This statue captures Sauron in his full battle-ready glory, clad in his iconic armor and ready for war. Standing at an impressive 66.5 cm (approximately 26.2 inches) tall, the piece meticulously recreates his signature spiked helmet and the heavy plate armor covering his entire body. He wields his formidable mace with both hands, the One Ring prominently displayed on his right finger, while his cape is dynamically sculpted to convey a sense of sweeping motion. The sharp lines of his armor not only convey the weighty, hardened metallic feel but also feature intricate ancient golden runes, rendered with exceptional detail. The base is themed after the fiery landscape of Mount Doom and includes an LED light-up function, illuminating to create a flowing lava effect.
