BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's division today announced the latest addition to its popular METAL BUILD die-cast toy series: the "Gundam Astrea TYPE-X Finsternis" from "Mobile Suit Gundam 00," slated for release in December 2021.
The GNY-001XB Gundam Astrea TYPE-X Finsternis is one of many variants derived from the "Black Astrea," a mass-produced clone of the Gundam Astrea Type-F. This mysterious mobile suit conceals its Gundam identity with a distinctive head mask and undertakes special missions under the command of Ribbons Almark. Designed by Kanetake Ebikawa, the unit masterfully blends technologies from both Celestial Being and the Innovators, featuring strong GN-X design elements. It can utilize various armaments from the Gundam Astrea Type-F, while its arms are newly equipped with GN-X type shields. Furthermore, it boasts a brand-new weapon, the "GN Sharp Shooter," an improved version of the Dynames Gundam's GN Sniper Rifle.
The "METAL BUILD Gundam Astrea TYPE-X Finsternis" is a modified version of the previously released Type-F. It features a newly sculpted "Royal Mask" and the entire unit boasts a striking dark paint scheme with meticulously printed markings.
For armaments, both arms are newly equipped with GN-X type "GN Shields" and the "GN Sharp Shooter," an improved version of the Dynames Gundam's GN Sniper Rifle. It also inherits the incredibly rich arsenal used by the Type-F, including the Proto GN Sword (left and right), GN Beam Saber x2, GN Beam Dagger Blade x2, Hand Missile, NGN Bazooka, GN Cannon, GN Beam Rifle, GN Hammer, GN Beam Pistol x2, and GN Shield (Gundam Astrea) x2, offering immense playability.
TAMASHII NATIONS also teased a new product plan for METAL BUILD x "Mobile Suit Gundam 00," hinting at the possibility of more heavily armed versions of Gundam Astrea TYPE-X or even GN-X units in the future.
