MAX FACTORY, a Japanese toy manufacturer, is releasing the latest addition to its COMBAT ARMORS model kit series, based on the classic 80s robot anime "Fang of the Sun Dougram." This new release is the "Fang of the Sun Set" 1/72 scale model kit, featuring the members of the Fang of the Sun. It will retail for 4,180 JPY and is slated for a December 2021 release!
Produced by Japan's SUNRISE, the robot anime "Fang of the Sun Dougram" (太陽の牙ダグラム) premiered on TV Tokyo in 1981, running for a total of 75 episodes. Ryosuke Takahashi and Takeyuki Kanda served as directors, with Kunio Okawara handling the mecha design. The story is set on the colonized planet Deloyer, where a long history of political oppression and resource exploitation by the Earth Federation ultimately sparks an independence revolution. While the protagonist is Crinn Cashim and his "Fang of the Sun" guerrilla unit, the true orchestrators of the war are the politicians within the series, leading "Fang of the Sun" to be recognized as Japan's first political anime.
The COMBAT ARMORS MAX26 1/72 Scale Fang of the Sun Set includes ten characters from the Fang of the Sun guerrilla unit: protagonist Crinn Cashim, leader Rocky Andor, Canary Donett, Billy Hol, Chico Vian, the honest Nanashi, Festa Bronco, former Federation soldier Hal G. Thomson, George Jourdain, and Rita Beret. Also included is the "Grand Search" battle hovercraft used by the members in the series, with water-slide decals to recreate its markings. Pair this set with other items in the series, such as the Combat Armor Dougram, to recreate the passionate yet desperate battles of the young heroes!
