NXEDGE STYLE "Chou Mashin Hero Wataru" Series Announced! Is Ken-Oh Ryujinmaru the First Entry?

TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, announced today that its NXEDGE STYLE action figure series, known for its sharp sculpting and unique proportions, will be releasing mecha from the "Chou Mashin Hero Wataru" series. They also unveiled a silhouette of the highly popular "Ken-Oh Ryujinmaru."

"Chou Mashin Hero Wataru" is a 1997 TV anime created by the original staff behind "Mashin Hero Wataru." While it nominally continues the story of the first series, it features numerous changes to its setting, essentially making it a soft reboot. The plot follows Wataru Ikusabe, who, after saving Soukaizan and Seikaiyama, returns to his normal life in the real world. One day, he loses his memories as the savior and his "good heart," becoming prone to mischief. Himiko and Torao then bring Wataru back to Shinbukai to save the imperiled Soukaizan, and on their journey, Wataru gradually regains his lost self.

A key feature of this series is its significantly revamped Mashin designs. Wataru and Ryujinmaru can undergo "Chouryoku Henshin" (Super Power Transformation) using Magatama obtained from each world layer, gaining entirely new appearances and abilities. For example, the silhouetted Ken-Oh Ryujinmaru is a heavy armored knight form, transformed by the power of the "Black Steel Sword King" from the third world layer. It wears black iron heavy armor and a red cape, with its right arm merged with the Ultimate Sword, allowing it to unleash the "Ken-Oh Tōryūken," capable of cleaving through space.
