As a god whose appearance and gender (and even species) can change freely, Loki has many different forms even within the same universe. Today, let's take a look at some of the more unique Lokis in the main universe and parallel universes!

▼Summoning many different versions of himself at once.

  • Earth-616 "Classic" Loki

  • Loki Laufeyson—the God of Lies and Mischief—is a Frost Giant from Jotunheim, raised by the Asgardians of Asgard. Born smarter than his kin but estranged by his father Laufey, he was adopted by Odin, the All-Father of Asgard, after a war and grew up alongside his adoptive brother Thor. Subsequently, he was worshipped by the Vikings of Midgard (Earth), becoming part of Norse mythology.

Upon learning of his true origins, Loki grew jealous of his brother Thor, plotting to harm him and all of Asgard. He later sought out Earth's heroes, attempting to trick the Hulk into fighting Thor, which inadvertently led to the formation of the famous superhero team, the Avengers.

Essentially, the journey from the MCU film "Thor" to "The Avengers" is adapted from this classic origin story.

Earth-616 Lady Loki

▼ The female protagonist in the series is a hybrid of this version and "Enchantress."

After a "Ragnarok," Loki was reborn in a female form and joined the Cabal, founded by Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin. Soon after, during the "Siege" event, Loki incited Norman Osborn to lead his intelligence organization H.A.M.M.E.R. and the Dark Avengers in a massive assault on New Asgard, now located in Oklahoma, USA, hoping to restore it to its previous dimension.

Unexpectedly, the Sentry, who had transformed into another personality, the Void, within the Dark Avengers, was too powerful and utterly destroyed Asgard. Realizing his plan had gone awry, Loki had no choice but to use the Norn Stones to help the Avengers fight the Void, ultimately dying at its hands...

Earth-616 Kid Loki

▼ The Kid Loki in the series who killed his timeline's Thor is adapted from this version.

Of course, dying at the Void's hands was just a plan. Loki wished to escape the shackles of fate, so he secretly had Hela, the Goddess of Death, erase his name from the Book of Hel, allowing him to be reborn as a child with no memory of his past. But Thor eventually found Kid Loki living a human life and brought him back to Asgard. However, back in Asgard, Kid Loki was bullied daily, as everyone still saw him as the despicable traitor and God of Mischief. At the end of a mysterious riddle, in a secret chamber, Kid Loki discovered an echo of himself—the soul left by his past self—telling him of his plan and offering to help Kid Loki through difficult times.

▼The moment Kid Loki was replaced by Ikol.

Kid Loki, wanting to be good, naturally refused and transformed this echo into the form of a magpie, naming it "Ikol" (Loki spelled backward), to serve as his sidekick and offer advice. Subsequently, Kid Loki helped Thor defeat the Serpent, but because this caused many lingering problems, he was blackmailed by the three All-Mothers and had to follow their commands. Ultimately, as part of Ikol's long-term plan, to prevent Mephisto from becoming Satan and dominating all of Hell, Kid Loki had to sacrifice himself, giving his body to Ikol, allowing them to merge into a brand new version of Loki.

Earth-616 "Young Avengers" / "Agent of Asgard" Loki (Ikol)

Although Ikol was an echo of the original Loki, replacing Kid Loki's personality did not revert him to the old version; instead, he became a completely different third party. He briefly became a member of the Young Avengers and tricked Wiccan into helping him quickly grow into a youthful appearance.

To atone for his past sins, Ikol began working under the command of the All-Mothers, becoming the "Agent of Asgard," continuing to execute various secret missions with his flexible and adaptable methods. Soon, he discovered that he had always been part of his future self's plan, and in anger, he abandoned his deal with the All-Mothers.

Earth-616 "Thor" Loki

After abandoning his identity as an Agent of Asgard, Loki was caught up in the "Axis" event, transformed into a god of goodness by the inversion magic that spread across the entire Earth, and thus could no longer tell a single lie. Subsequently, he joined the "Astonishing Avengers," formed by other villains who had also been magically inverted and turned good, and on the moon, he lifted Thor's Mjolnir, gaining Thor's power and defeating the evil Thor! It wasn't until the magic was reversed, and he reverted to the God of Lies, that he lost the right to wield the hammer.

Earth-616 "God of Stories" Loki

▼ Returning with a wilder look and a new identity.

After "Axis" ended, Loki inexplicably still couldn't lie, but was unfortunately asked by Thor about Kid Loki's past. After revealing the truth—that he had killed Kid Loki and taken his place—Loki was furiously beaten by Thor and dragged back to Asgard for judgment, where he was sentenced to eternal exile. Returning to New York in despair, he was then confronted by King Loki, who had been manipulating him all along, and in the magical flames he cast, Loki saw the echoes of the original Loki and Kid Loki. They each gave him a choice: to become the original evil God of Lies, or to sacrifice himself to prevent greater harm to the world. Persuaded by a friend, he chose a third path and turned to ash, only to be reborn eight months later as the God of Stories.

▼Loki survived the destruction of the multiverse and drew a door in the void leading directly to the stories after the multiverse's restoration.

After his rebirth, he understood that the essence of lies is stories, and he traveled to the battlefield of the war between Hel and Asgard, driving King Loki out of this world. He then used his power as the God of Stories to record and permanently preserve the "essence," or stories, of the warring factions. Finally, in the void after the destruction of the multiverse, he and King Loki, who had fled there, came to a mutual understanding.

Earth-14412 "King" Loki / "All-Butcher" Loki

First appearing in "Loki: Agent of Asgard" #1, this version of Loki once became his world's "Agent of Asgard," carrying out mission after mission and cleansing himself of every sin. But even so, no one was willing to treat him kindly, because even if he was no longer the "God of Evil," he was still the "God of Lies," and no matter how he changed, no one would believe him. His time as a reformed good guy only lasted ten years before he broke down from the ostracism of others.

After Thor became King of Asgard, Loki massacred the entire Earth, turning it into a land of bones and ruling over it. He later returned to 2014 and possessed Thor at the time, to guide that Loki to bring him before the All-Mothers of Asgard for a deal, to execute his plan to destroy everything. Finally, he instigated a great war between Hel and Asgard, but under the siege of Asgard's many allies and "God of Stories" Loki, he fled in disarray, and in the void after the destruction of the multiverse, he reached a mutual understanding with the God of Stories.

After the multiverse was restored, Loki returned to his original timeline, acquired the "All-Black" sword used to slaughter gods, renamed himself "Loki the All-Butcher," and resurrected its former owner, Gorr the God-Butcher, intending to kill King Thor. Finally, to fight against Gorr, who had reclaimed the All-Black, Loki stalled for time, allowing Thor to destroy the All-Black, and sacrificed himself to reignite the dying sun.

Earth-616 "President" Loki

▼ The President Loki who appeared in the series, also played by Tom Hiddleston, is adapted from this version.

First appearing in the semi-comedic and satirical work "Vote Loki" #1, after the multiverse was reorganized, "God of Stories" Loki suddenly orchestrated a Hydra terrorist attack on a US presidential candidate, then emerged to save the day. With the fresh argument that "both party candidates are garbage, at least I'll lie to you openly," he quickly captivated the hearts of the American people, soon announced his candidacy, and gained a significant lead in the polls. Although a female journalist, whose childhood was affected by his battles with the Avengers, constantly hounded him, trying to expose his tricks, she was always outsmarted by him.

Ultimately, because he, like other candidates, only made empty promises without offering practical actions, he received only a very small number of state votes; however, Loki claimed that the journalist eventually got her own show, which he considered a small compensation for messing up her life in the past. As for the entire election charade, it was a deal between him and the candidate who was trailing in the polls at the time. With Loki's interference, all the votes eventually went to him, and he successfully became the President of the United States.

Earth-18897 "Superhero" Loki

First appearing in "Infinity Wars" #1, this universe is known as the "Superhero Universe," arguably a perfect version of the main universe. Here, the valiant Loki possesses six Infinity Stones, wields Mjolnir, and was accidentally flung into the main universe while battling the "Soul-Eater" Devondra with his comrades. He met the Loki of this universe, finding it quite amusing that he was a trickster and liar, and was then dragged back to his world by Devondra to continue fighting. He was ultimately killed by his universe's "Requiem," and his Infinity Stones were taken.

In Marvel's official settings, Infinity Stones can only function in their native universe. Since the "Reality Stone" on Loki was actually a Reality Stone from another universe, he only had the power of five stones when wearing it, and thus was not omnipotent.

Earth-16191 "Queen" Loki

▼ Beside Loki are three members of the Thor Corps from Arcadia.

First appearing in "A-Force" #1 (2015), Queen Loki was a member of the all-female superhero team "A-Force" from "Arcadia," one of the regions on "Battleworld," the setting of the "Secret Wars" event. She was also the adoptive mother of two other members, "Ms. America" and "Sister Grimm."

Though she loved her two daughters, she loved power more, and secretly opened portals to other realms, inviting disaster. This led to Ms. America being arrested by the "Thor Corps" for accidentally violating the laws of "God Emperor Doom"; She-Hulk, the Baroness of Arcadia, unable to intervene, suffered Sister Grimm's distrust. Loki then seized the opportunity to open portals to other realms and framed her attack on She-Hulk as a justified act of revenge. After her lies were exposed by Sister Grimm, Loki furiously destroyed Battleworld's Great Wall barrier, unleashing countless zombie armies to destroy everything. She was finally stopped by A-Force and the X-Men working together and arrested by the Thor Corps.

Earth-94001 "King" Loki

First appearing in "Loki" #1 (2004), in this world, Loki successfully conquered Asgard with the help of allies, imprisoning Odin and Thor, and becoming the new king; but he immediately discovered that being a king meant heavy responsibilities and arduous work, vastly different from what he had imagined, and he did not gain the respect of the Asgardians who had mocked him for years.

However, at the request of Hela, the Goddess of Death, he had to offer her Thor's soul, meaning he had to execute Thor; but as the only being who had ever loved Loki, Thor was not hated by Loki, so he was deeply conflicted. But after observing in other parallel universes the fate where Thor always won and Loki always lost, he decided to break this destiny, and went to release Thor, hoping to reconcile with him. But Loki had barely arrived at the prison when Thor had already escaped on his own and delivered a fatal blow with Mjolnir.

Earth-1610 "Ultimate" Loki

First appearing in "Ultimates 2" #1, in the "Ultimate Universe," Loki was Odin's biological son, but still a half-Frost Giant. After killing his brother, Baldr the God of Light, he was banished from Asgard and came to Earth, leading a group of Nazi soldiers and Frost Giants to attack Asgard during World War II as Baron Zemo, but was again defeated and sealed by Odin.

Sixty years later, he successfully escaped and began to disrupt the "Ultimates" (the Ultimate Universe's version of the Avengers) and tried to provoke World War III, but was eventually defeated again by the Ultimates and Odin and imprisoned in Asgard. The next time he escaped, he led trolls to attack Earth, targeting Thor's beloved, hoping to make him lose control and destroy Earth, but was ultimately stopped and killed by Hela, the Goddess of Death.

After Asgard descended to Earth, Loki returned again, but was massacred along with all Asgardians except Thor by the advanced race, the "Children of Tomorrow," leaving Thor as the last Asgardian of the Ultimate Universe.

Earth-3515 "Royal Advisor" Loki

First appearing in "Thor" Vol.2 #68, this Earth is a utopian world built and ruled by Thor. Here, Loki became his brother's advisor and the Prime Minister of "New Asgard," acquiring the relics of Doctor Strange, but also secretly cultivating his own power.

In addition to ruling with harsh laws, he also massacred many Avengers members and related individuals in the name of Asgard, and continuously secretly arranged many human resistance activities to maintain his power. After his evil deeds and duplicity were exposed, Loki was finally killed by a powerful entity he had been sealing, and on his deathbed, he pleaded with Thor for his life, but was coldly refused by the latter.

Earth-9997 "Earth X" Loki

First appearing in "Earth X" #0, in this universe, Loki's "Asgardians" were merely an alien race (in mainstream continuity, they are indeed gods), and this race had evolved to what is called "Phase Three," where their very existence could only be defined by a third party; when they came to Earth, a Norseman named Donnerson firmly believed they were gods from Asgard, and thus transformed them into "Asgardians," while Donnerson himself became Odin.

To solidify their existence, Odin sent Thor and Loki to Earth to deepen human perception of them, but Loki soon had his own plans to conquer Earth, until he learned the truth about himself, the essence of their race's existence. He then allied with Thor to defeat Odin, freeing their people from Odin's control. Finally, Thor continued to use his mortal identity, Donald Blake, as a doctor, while Loki transformed himself into Thor and founded a new generation of Avengers, becoming a hero.

Earth-6091 "Slave" Loki

▼Loki is on the left, and the White Queen is on the right.

First appearing in "Dark Reign: The Cabal" #1, this is a future envisioned by Doctor Doom. This version of Loki, after joining the "Cabal" (composed of Norman Osborn, Doctor Doom, White Queen, The Hood, and Namor) as "Lady Loki," was imprisoned along with the White Queen by a treacherous Doctor Doom, maintaining her female body; as for the male members, all were killed by Doctor Doom and Namor, and Namor was eventually strangled by Doctor Doom, thus ruling the entire world.
