Bandai's popular Gashapon capsule toy brand, GASHAPON, today (the 5th) announced its new premium series, "Gashapon Ultimate Creatures," with the first release being Africa's largest reptile, the "Nile Crocodile." This highly anticipated figure is slated for a January 2022 release. Unlike traditional capsule toys, this product will not be available via gashapon machines and will be sold exclusively through Premium Bandai.
Compared to previous Gashapon releases, the "Gashapon Ultimate Creatures" line boasts top-tier size, sculpting, and articulation. For the debut "Nile Crocodile," renowned Japanese creature sculptor SHINZEN Takeuchi (SHINZEN Modeling Studio) was brought in to craft the prototype. He has meticulously scaled down the average 5-meter-long Nile Crocodile to a 1/12 scale, resulting in an impressive 40cm-long figure!
The lifelike sculpt faithfully reproduces the interlocking teeth of its upper and lower jaws, the powerful, thick tail that serves as its primary propulsion while swimming, and the armor-like rough scales covering its entire body. Expert paint applications bring to life its narrow-pupiled eyes and the black, spot-like sensory organs across its body. Even intricate details like the membrane inside its mouth, which prevents water from entering its throat, are perfectly replicated.
Regarding articulation, the figure features an impressive 45 movable segments from head to tail, designed with minimal gaps to conceal internal joints. This ensures both aesthetic integrity and the ability to dynamically pose the crocodile's body. The limbs and tail also utilize a similar seamless articulation design, preventing any visual disruption from exposed joints during play.
