I've been completely hooked on "Jujutsu Kaisen" lately, and after seeing Sukuna unleash "Malevolent Shrine" and instantly obliterate a Special Grade curse, I knew I absolutely had to have a figure of him!
Since I'd never tackled a large-scale figure before, I decided to go with a 1/6 scale for this project.
The eyes alone required multiple revisions to achieve a satisfactory look – still need more practice!
Finally, I added the base and rendered it to check the overall effect.
The digital sculpting took about a full week of evenings to complete.
Next, it was time to add the print supports. Because my 3D printer has a limited build volume, I had to print the figure in four separate parts.
Due to the size constraints, the lower body had to be split into front and back sections for printing.
After a full day of printing...
First, I removed all the print supports.
Then, I joined the lower body sections and attached the upper body using putty and super glue.
After that, I sanded the surface smooth.
I took a moment to check the progress.
Once satisfied with the smoothness, it was time for primer.
After priming, I did a final check to ensure everything was perfect.
With no issues found, I moved on to painting using both airbrushing and hand-painting techniques (masking was definitely a pain!).
Next up: creating the base.
I started by randomly cutting foam board, then glued larger pieces to serve as rubble.
Then, I applied diorama paste to create a rocky texture.
I also sculpted an ox skull and giant ribs (or something similar?) from clay. This was my first time working with clay, so the results... well, I think they're about 87% similar to the rendered design, right?
I also added some 3D printed human skulls.
Arranging these on the foam board completed the base!
