Kaiyodo, the Japanese toy brand renowned for its highly articulated "Amazing Yamaguchi" (アメコミヤマグチ) series, which primarily focuses on American superheroes, is now expanding its lineup with a fourth release from the hit anime "My Hero Academia." Following the successful launches of Izuku Midoriya, All Might, and Katsuki Bakugo, the "Amazing Yamaguchi Shoto Todoroki" articulated figure is set to debut! It will retail for 8,900 JPY and is slated for release in late December 2021.
In "My Hero Academia," Shoto Todoroki, the stoic and visually striking student from U.A. High School's Class 1-A Hero Course, is the son of the No. 2 Hero, Endeavor. He inherited a powerful "Half-Cold Half-Hot" Quirk from both his parents: his mother's ability to generate ice from his right side and his father's power to create flames from his left. Raised by his father as a tool to surpass All Might, Shoto developed a strong competitive drive and an aloof personality, though his character gradually evolves throughout the series.
The "Amazing Yamaguchi Shoto Todoroki" articulated figure stands approximately 15.5 cm tall and boasts an impressive 35 points of articulation throughout its body. It meticulously recreates Shoto's sleek hero costume, including intricate details like his wrist guards, belt, and the small vials hanging from it. His distinctive white and red dual-colored hair and the burn scar over his left eye are also faithfully reproduced. In addition to his signature cool expression, the figure comes with seven interchangeable face plates depicting relaxed and angry, gritting-teeth looks. An interchangeable hair piece with roaring flames, activated when he uses his Quirk, allows for dynamic portrayal of various states!
Ball joints in the lower body ensure the legs can achieve a wide range of impressive standing and jumping poses. The figure includes seven interchangeable left and right hand gestures, along with a wealth of effect parts: three fire-element flame effects and ice-element icicles and ice spikes, perfect for recreating his powerful Half-Cold Half-Hot techniques! Furthermore, comic-style transparent onomatopoeia plates for freezing "FWOOSH," burning "FOOSH," and the simultaneous ice and fire "WHAKOOM" are included, allowing for an even more perfect depiction of his in-show combat stances.
A smartphone accessory is also included.
