Dark Horse Direct, the collectibles brand from Dark Horse Comics, yesterday (the 11th) unveiled a new decorative item from the highly anticipated sci-fi epic "Dune": the "Sandworm Bookends"! Shipping is estimated to begin between December 2021 and March 2022.
In American novelist Frank Herbert's sci-fi masterpiece "Dune," Sandworms are colossal, worm-like creatures native to the desert planet Arrakis. The larvae of these Sandworms produce a raw material for "The Spice" by mixing stored water and metabolites within their bodies. In the "Dune" universe, this Spice is the highly coveted resource that drives much of the conflict, making Sandworms a critically important element of the story. The massive forms of these Sandworms were prominently featured in the 2021 "Dune" trailer.
