Following the highly anticipated Rem -Japanese Doll- figure, premium collectible brand F:NEX, a division of renowned Japanese prize figure manufacturer Furyu (Furyu Corporation), has once again partnered with the esteemed traditional Japanese doll maker Yoshitoku for their latest release. The second entry in the series, the "Ram -Japanese Doll-" 1/4 scale figure, inspired by the popular light novel series "Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World," makes its elegant debut. This F:NEX exclusive, made-to-order piece is priced at 147,400 JPY and is slated for a March 2022 release.
Located in Tokyo's historic Asakusa district, Yoshitoku is a venerable Japanese doll manufacturer with a 300-year legacy. The company specializes in creating traditional Japanese dolls, including Hina dolls for Girls' Day, Musha dolls (Goga-tsu Ningyo) for Children's Day, and various other figures that embody Japanese culture. Their corporate motto, "The face is the life of the doll" (人形は顔がいのち), underscores their meticulous craftsmanship, not only in producing high-quality kimonos and armor but especially in imbuing the dolls' faces with soul and exquisite detail.
The new "Yoshitoku x F:NEX Ram -Japanese Doll-" is crafted in an impressive 1/4 scale, standing approximately 40 cm tall. Embodying Yoshitoku's dedication to artistry, Ram's fair skin, rosy lips, and delicate cheeks are sculpted with exquisite precision, capturing a charming and captivating expression. Her translucent hair offers a beautiful sense of depth, while intricate hair accessories further enhance Ram's allure. Even the subtle details of her fingertips are meticulously rendered, as she gracefully holds a paper fan, evoking a light and elegant dance pose.
Her stunning attire features fabrics dyed by Kyoto's historic textile purveyor, Nishimura Shoji Shoten, and is meticulously crafted by Yoshitoku using the unique traditional art of Kyo-Yuzen kimono. The two-layered design, appearing as if half-undressed, showcases a striking split of vibrant red and pink hues. Adorned with delicate traditional Japanese patterns and rich gold accents, the kimono exudes a luxurious feel. A tightly cinched navy obi, embellished with prominent gold threads, ensures the kimono fits perfectly, highlighting her graceful silhouette.
