To commemorate this, a special Gunpla kit, the "HG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam [2020 Dubai International Expo Japan Pavilion PR Ambassador]," will be released on the opening day of the expo.
The Japan Pavilion PR Ambassador version of the Gundam was personally designed by mechanical designer Kunio Okawara. Building upon the fundamental design of the RX-78-2 Gundam, it incorporates the red and white colors of the Japanese flag, symbolizing its role as the nation's representative. The markings across its body feature not only internationally recognized English but also integrate Japan's deeply rooted Kanji culture, with strong Japanese-style elements further highlighting the original Gundam's samurai-inspired design.
The commemorative "HG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam [2020 Dubai International Expo Japan Pavilion PR Ambassador]" is based on the highly acclaimed HG 1/144 REVIVE version released in 2015, boasting excellent proportions and articulation. To accurately represent its unique design, some parts feature new molds, not only enhancing color accuracy but also making the application of color-correcting stickers easier. By utilizing the Kunio Okawara-designed marking stickers included with the kit, you can largely recreate the Gundam's appearance as the Japan Pavilion PR Ambassador!
