Following the highly successful first wave, Bandai Candy, the Shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has officially announced the second installment of its "Mobile Suit Gundam" garage kit-inspired series, "GUNDAM ARTIFACT." The highly anticipated second wave, titled "GUNDAM ARTIFACT 2," is slated for release in December 2021.
The "GUNDAM ARTIFACT" series reimagines Mobile Suits in a garage kit style, crafted from ABS plastic with a resin-like beige molded color. Each mini figure stands approximately 5.5 cm tall, capturing realistic proportions and intricate detail, and can be disassembled into around 50 precision parts. Despite the impressive detail, each unit is remarkably affordable, priced at just around 500 Japanese Yen.
The second wave features five iconic mobile suits: "Full Armor Gundam," "GM (Thunderbolt Ver.)," "Dom Tropen," "Zaku III," and "V2 Assault Buster Gundam." Each Mobile Suit boasts a unique interpretation within the series, showcasing meticulous design elements such as armor panel lines, intricate layering, distinct segmentation, refined head-to-body ratios, and exposed internal frames. These details demonstrate a craftsmanship that deviates from the original designs, delivering a high-density aesthetic that far surpasses typical candy toy expectations.
Even a straight build allows collectors to appreciate the outstanding sculpts, while advanced hobbyists can further challenge their skills, vision, and dexterity through custom painting and articulation modifications!
