Japanese toy manufacturer Kaiyodo, renowned for its proprietary Revoltech joint system, has announced the latest addition to its popular "EVANGELION EVOLUTION" action figure series. Coming from "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time," the new "EVANGELION Evangelion Unit-08γ" is slated for release in February 2022.
Piloted by Mari Illustrious Makinami, the Evangelion Unit-08γ's official designation is the "General-Purpose Humanoid Decisive Weapon Artificial Human Evangelion Ultra-Extreme Space Compatible Special Equipment Addable Type Modified Unit-08γ Temporary Arm Reinforcement Specification." Compared to the "Unit-08β Temporary Battle Form" seen in the opening Paris sequence, which used mechanical arms as prosthetics, Unit-08γ features largely repaired arms. However, it still incorporates power assist systems resembling mechanical exoskeletons, and its back is equipped with a large "DRAGON CARRIER" weapon rack housing various armaments.
Sculpted by the legendary Katsuhisa Yamaguchi, the "EVANGELION EVOLUTION Evangelion Unit-08γ" stands approximately 18 cm tall. This figure boasts an entirely new sculpt, featuring a sleek and striking design that meticulously recreates the intricate details of the arm exoskeletons. The entire figure utilizes dozens of highly articulated Revoltech ball joints, and the hydraulic cylinders on its arms feature a联动機構 (interlocking mechanism), ensuring an outstanding range of motion.
The impressive array of accessories includes the fully regenerated arms, multiple interchangeable hand parts, and four distinct weapons used in the final battle: the "Stop Signal Plug," "Circular Saw," "Naginata," and "Whip." This makes it the most comprehensively equipped Evangelion Unit-08γ release to date. Additionally, it comes with weapon-holding hands designed for Unit-02α, allowing collectors to pose it with the separately sold "EVANGELION EVOLUTION Evangelion Unit-02α" and its various weapons!
