Japan's official "Mobile Suit Gundam" Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, has once again announced an event exclusive item: the "HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam (Heine Westenfluss Custom) [Clear Color]," set to release on September 18, 2021.
The Destiny Gundam (Heine Westenfluss Custom) originally debuted as a special first-press bonus for the "X42S-REVOLUTION" collaboration album, released by T.M.Revolution (Takanori Nishikawa) and "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" to commemorate Gunpla's 30th anniversary. In its lore, this Destiny Gundam is identical in specifications to the unit piloted by Shinn Asuka, but was assigned to ace pilot Heine Westenfluss, voiced by Takanori Nishikawa himself. Its body paint scheme and beam colors were designed to match Heine's signature orange. In C.E. 74, Z.A.F.T. planned to assemble a special unit called the "Concluders," comprised of ace pilots from various regions, to be equipped with the Destiny Gundam as their primary Mobile Suit. Heine was selected to pilot one such unit; however, with his unfortunate early demise in battle, this particular machine remained preserved in the hangar, never having been piloted.
The "HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam (Heine Westenfluss Custom) [Clear Color]" is based on the highly acclaimed new "HGCE 1/144 Destiny Gundam (Heine Westenfluss Custom)" kit, released in 2019. It boasts excellent part separation, color accuracy, and articulation design, featuring double joints in the chest and waist to perfectly recreate the iconic forward-bending poses from the series. Its impressive arsenal includes the "Arondight" Beam Sword, High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon, Beam Shield, "Palma Fiocina" Beam Shield, High-Energy Beam Rifle, "Flash-Edge 2" Beam Boomerang, and the spectacular Wings of Light effect parts!
This version transforms the white, orange, black, yellow, green, blue, red, and other exterior armor parts into clear plastic molding, creating a unique, highly translucent finish that allows a glimpse into the internal frame structure. This makes it particularly convenient for special customization techniques like adding LED lighting or glow-in-the-dark paints, offering a distinct style compared to standard Gunpla builds.
