The ultimate detective duo is here! Japan's renowned toy manufacturer Max Factory, known for its popular and highly articulated "figma" action figure series, is collaborating with TOMYTEC and Toei to release figma figures of the two dashing lead detectives from the classic Japanese police drama "Abunai Deka": Toshiyuki Takayama and Yuji Oshita. These two best friends and perfect partners are set to launch in September 2022.
"Abunai Deka" (also known as "Dangerous Detectives") is a classic Japanese crime drama series that first aired in 1986. Its immediate success led to a second season, "Motto Abunai Deka", the following year, and numerous film adaptations continued to be produced until 2016, cementing its status as a beloved franchise. Set in Yokohama, Japan, the story follows Kanagawa Prefecture detectives Toshiyuki Takayama and Yuji Oshita as they tackle cases, confront yakuza organizations, and navigate their daily lives. The series is celebrated for its over-the-top action sequences and witty, humorous dialogue, endearing it to a wide audience.
This particular figma release is a special, pre-order exclusive bundled with the high-definition Blu-ray Box Vol. 1 of the drama, which explains its higher price point. The figma Toshiyuki Takayama, a collaboration between figma and TOMYTEC, meticulously captures the likeness of actor Hiroshi Tachi (who also famously co-starred with Yui Aragaki in "Papa to Musume no Nanokakan"), specifically his iconic black suit from the series.
The figure comes packed with a generous array of accessories. It includes two interchangeable face plates: a standard expression and one with sunglasses. Thanks to advanced 3D printing technology, the facial expressions boast incredibly lifelike detail. Takayama's signature revolver, a police sidearm, and his police notebook are all included. For more casual poses, fans will find a beverage, a soft-serve ice cream cone, and even the infamous pink rabbit that concealed a bomb! Four pairs of interchangeable hands are also provided. With its excellent articulation and an included dedicated display stand, collectors can recreate a multitude of dynamic poses. Fans of the series won't want to miss out on this one.
