The ultimate detective duo! Japan's renowned toy brand Max Factory, known for its popular and highly sought-after "figma" action figure series, is collaborating with TOMYTEC and Toei to release figma figures of the two main protagonists from the classic Japanese police drama "Abunai Deka": Toshiki Takayama and Yuji Oshita. These two stylish police officers, who are both best friends and perfect partners, are set to launch in September 2022.
"Abunai Deka" (also known as "Dangerous Detectives") is a classic Japanese police procedural drama that first aired in 1986. Its initial success led to a second season, "Motto Abunai Deka," the following year, and numerous film adaptations continued to be released until 2016, solidifying its status as a beloved franchise. Set in Yokohama, Japan, the series primarily follows Kanagawa Prefecture detectives Toshiki Takayama and Yuji Oshita as they solve cases and battle yakuza organizations. The show is celebrated for its over-the-top action sequences, witty banter, and humorous elements, earning it a dedicated fanbase.
This figma of Yuji Oshita is a special release, bundled with the high-definition Blu-ray box set of the drama. Due to its limited, made-to-order nature, it carries a premium price. Produced by figma in collaboration with TOMYTEC, the figure meticulously captures actor Kyohei Shibata, who portrays Yuji Oshita, featuring his signature beige suit, a distinct contrast to his partner Taka's attire.
Much like the figma for his partner Taka, Yuji Oshita comes packed with a wealth of accessories. He includes two interchangeable face plates: a standard expression and one wearing sunglasses, both rendered with incredible realism thanks to 3D printing technology. His arsenal of accessories features his police-issued handgun, a police notebook, Yuji's favorite beverage, the "white powder" (sugar) and briefcase seen in the series, and four pairs of interchangeable hands, including one posed to hold a cigarette. With its excellent articulation and included display stand, collectors can recreate a wide array of dynamic poses. For fans of the series, acquiring both Yuji and Taka will allow for even more authentic scene recreations.
