Following the popular Godzilla/Mothra Larva Tissue Case and Kamata-kun Flat Mop Cover, SUN-STAR Stationery Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Bandai Namco Group, is now releasing a hilarious and eye-catching "Hedorah Desk Mop" based on the 1971 kaiju film "Godzilla vs. Hedorah." It will retail for 3,520 JPY and is slated for a December 2021 release!
The 11th film in the Godzilla series, "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" (ゴジラ対ヘドラ), released in 1971, tells the story of Hedorah, a mineral-based lifeform from space. After arriving on Earth, Hedorah is affected by pollution, absorbing sludge, exhaust fumes, and other toxic waste, transforming into the colossal "Smog Monster."
Hedorah has four distinct forms: Aqua Form, Land Form, Flying Form, and Perfect Form. In its Land Form, it walks on four legs, its body capable of melting steel, and it can shed its outer skin to escape when necessary. In its Flying Form, it emits highly toxic black smoke as it flies, reducing people to skeletons. Due to its amorphous and unstructured body, most physical attacks are ineffective against it.
The SUN-STAR "Hedorah Desk Mop" measures approximately 10 cm tall and is crafted from plush material, transforming Hedorah's Flying Form into a desk-sized dusting brush/ball! Its pair of bright red eyes stand out on its dark, flattened body, while the stringy, sludge-like pollution beneath its form has been cleverly reimagined as delicate dusting bristles. A small pocket on the back allows for easy gripping, making it comfortable and convenient to clean desktops, keyboards, and other tight spaces!
